CIA Product of Pressure ReductionA saying that you've probably heard a whole lot in business, in sports, and human performance generally is governing the controllable. What does that basically mean? I wanted to take this concept of controlling the controllable, which is actually really good advice mind you, and take it out of the arena of as being a cliché and in to the an entire world of something which we can easily actually do.
In our workshops we'll use something called the CIA Model to help students gain knowledge of this concept reducing stress in their own lives. It's pretty straightforward this model so here's the short form.
CIA stands for Control Influence Accept. All with the circumstances and situations we find inside ourselves will get into one of them three categories. I am going to discuss them back order.
There is an enormous number of things in our world we simply need to accept. Weather, traffic patterns, scores and outcomes of games that people're not actually playing in. One from the best things that we can do for our own peace of mind is that when there's something that we need to accept, is really just to accept it not waste any injury looking to put it back.
The second category are things that individuals influence. The two big stuff that belong to this are the immediate environment, your car, your working environment, your property, and folks that you simply cope with. Listen, we don't have control over our kids, our colleagues, etc, but we do have influence over them, the here other in the best issues that you're able to do for your growth is always that in circumstances in places you have influence to truly exercise that influence will dramatically supercharge your self-esteem.
Now we arrived at the category of things we can easily control. We're here to talk about governing the controllable. Well, guess what happens, folks? I've found that there is really only 1 thing one of many things that we can control. It's your decisions.
That's right, your decisions about your health will be the only thing that people actually have direct treatments for. When you realize this, it will become type of confronting and kind of liberating all as well. What do you do using this information, the only thing that I have control over include the decisions that I make?
Stop wanting to control things that you don't have any treatments for. Amazing in my experience simply how much energy people waste looking to control things that they maybe have influence over, but also in many cases should just accept. I'll also state that when it comes to things that you've zero influence over, I wouldn't spend enough time talking or complaining about them. It's just a drain on your energy. Are you catching yourself attempting to control things that you ought to just accept? Notice that, and I would change your mind on that.
When you realize the only thing you have control over can be your decisions, take responsibility with the decision-making process. I'm not saying to blame yourself when things come out poorly. I am saying it will require responsibility for your decision that you simply make. That's when you start controlling the controllables and seeing the outcomes that you simply really need to see.
I don't play a whole lot of poker, but one thing that I be familiar with is the fact that winning at cards, specifically poker, carries a bit about them that you just are dealt, and it includes a huge amount about the way you make decisions and play they that you're dealt. Same thing is true of your life. Life truly is 10 % what goes on to us and 90 percent how we react.
I hope that you simply have enjoyed studying controlling the controllables.
